We the undersigned petition the council to make the regeneration of the Meeting House Lane community nature garden a priority. A regenerated nature garden would improve public safety, enhance local wellbeing and provide a valuable green space for residents, children and visitors alike.

This space was intended to be a peaceful, accessible green area for local people to enjoy. Unfortunately, it has become severely overgrown and neglected, making it difficult and, at times, unsafe to use.
The current condition of the site has contributed to ongoing antisocial behaviour, including drinking, suspected drug use and people camping within the garden. As a result, many residents, elderly people, families with young children and patients visiting the nearby doctor’s surgery and Nursery no longer feel safe walking through or sitting in the
We respectfully ask Southwark Council to:
* Clear excessive overgrowth and improve visibility throughout the
site.
* Remove litter, fly-tipping and any hazardous materials.
* Improve pathways and seating where appropriate.
* Wildflower planting and community gardening.
* A small play or seating area.
* Increase routine maintenance to prevent the area from falling
into neglect again.
* Work with residents to create a long-term regeneration plan that
encourages wildlife while ensuring the space remains safe and
accessible.
* Consider additional community safety measures where
necessary.
Local police officers are aware of the ongoing antisocial
behaviour affecting this area and have encouraged local residents
to work with Southwark Council to seek improvements. This petition
reflects that joint desire to restore the space as a safe,
welcoming and well-maintained community garden for everyone.
