Battle of Bermondsey

We the undersigned petition the council to Erect a plaque on the corner of Long Lane and Bermondsey Street recording the events of 3rd October 1937 where Moseley’s fascist blackshirts were repelled by residents of Bermondsey

Lost in history, when compared to the battle in east end’s Cable Street confrontation, Bermondsey’s stand against fascism deserves to be recognised.
