We the undersigned petition the council to abandon its plan to
introduce controlled parking in the Dulwich Hill area namely,
Dunstans Road, Dunstans Grove area, Mount Adon, Underhill Road,
Ryedale, Cornflower Terrace and many more on the basis that the
research and consultation underpinning the borough-wide CPZ are
flawed.
The council proposes to introduce "controlled" (i.e. paid) parking
on the roads quoted. Recently a school street has been designated
by Goodrich Primary School to ease traffic flow at peak school drop
off / collection times. Apart from the school there are no cafes,
fire stations, bus or railway stations, or health centres needing
specific parking needs in the area. There is no parking pressure on
these streets and so there is no reason to introduce paid parking.
The questionnaire for the public consultation does not include the
crucial question whether you want paid parking or not. It seems
therefore that the council just wants to push ahead with paid
parking, against the wishes of the local residents. Abandon this
scheme, unwanted by local residents who enjoy the freedom to park
in their street and are happy to share with others without charge.
Please do not add to the burden of costs we are already required to
pay to the Council and other Services in these difficult financial
times.
