Licensing Act 2003: Review of the Late-Night Levy

Minutes:

The Head of Service for Regulatory Services introduced the report.

 

There was a discussion and members had questions for the officers.

 

Members requested that the Head of Service for Regulatory Services ask the Leader of the Council to raise the matter of centralising licensing policing in London with the Metropolitan Police Service.

 

RESOLVED:

 

1.  That the licensing committee reviewed Southwark’s late night levy and determined that the levy shall be maintained as it is.

 

2.  That the licensing committee agreed a 30/70 levy split between the council and police and that a meeting shall be convened to consider how the council’s 30% portion of the revenue shall be spent from 1 April 2026.
