Presentation from young people to talk about teenage pregnancy.
Minutes:
Farhan Ghafoor, a Rotherhithe youth worker and three representatives from the Surrey Docks adventure playground project were present at the meeting to highlight some facts about teenage pregnancy.
They provided information about:
· Abortion facts, teen pregnancy rate in 2008 - considered the fifth highest in the developed world.
· The kind of information available for a young person who decides to keep their baby. This includes seeing a GP, get a check up what role the parents would play and the support network available to them.
The chair and Cllr Catherine McDonald, cabinet member for children’s services thanked the representatives for their presentation.
