Community Safety Updates

To note the Safer Neighbourhoods teams priorities discussed at the Police ward panel meetings.

Minutes:

The Community Council noted the safer neighbourhood teams ward priorities for the Dulwich area:

 

Priorities for College Ward SNT:

·  Anti social behaviour across the ward.

·  Responding to crime incidences involving fireworks and road safety.

·  Croxted Road Estate – responding to complaints involving mopeds and burglary, individuals were arrested.

·  Cannabis and weapons found on local estates.

·  Kingswood Estate – three arrests were made for street  robberies during school safe patrols.

·  Dawson Heights Estate – arrests based on intelligence gathering.

 

Priorities for Village Ward SNT:

·  Priorities remain unchanged from the last ward panel meeting.

·  SNT responded to high number of offences involving robberies particularly during the summer which occurred within or around the Dulwich Park which were mainly theft of bikes and mobile phones.

·  Worked actively during Halloween and Bonfire night

·  New Police initiative has been introduced which involves undertaking surveys to establish which neighbourhoods need targeting to address issues of crime.

 

A question was asked about hand held speed cameras.  The SNT explained that they have identified roads in the area however it was felt further discussion needed to take place with local Councillors.  The Chair suggested members of the Dulwich Society and local residents attend the next ward panel meeting on the 18 January 2011.

 

Priorities for East Dulwich SNT:

 

·  Priorities remain unchanged from the previous panel meeting, youth crime, burglary and offences concerning licensed premises.

·  Requested local residents to pick up ‘ free marking kit’

·  The team reported on speed camera offences and cautioned those motorists who were slightly over the speed limit.
