Purpose of committee:
The
Health and Wellbeing Board is a statutory partnership between the
Council, NHS, and community, voluntary and learning organisations
in Southwark. The board enables partners to come together to make
decisions with the aim of preventing ill health, promoting
wellbeing, and reducing health inequalities.
The
board delivers this function by identifying the health needs of the
population through Southwark’s
Joint Strategic Needs
Assessment (JSNA), then addressing these needs by
developing and implementing a
Joint Health and Wellbeing
Strategy.
The
current Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which will be
delivered by 2027, identifies four overarching
priorities:
- A
healthy start in life
- Healthy work and lives
- Support to stay well
- Healthy communities
The
board meets publicly four times a year. Residents are invited to
attend board meetings and participate by submitting comments or
public questions, in advance of each meeting and in accordance with
the procedural rules set out in the council’s constitution.
Resident participation helps ensure that decisions are informed by
their needs and priorities. For further information on the Health
& Wellbeing Board please contact constitutional.team@southwark.gov.uk.
