To improve the footway between Tyers Gate and the junctions with Crucifix Lane, St Thomas Street and Snowsfield
1. That the 126 responses received via the informal public consultation on the proposed street improvements on Bermondsey Street be considered, which include:
- the proposal to implement footway widening
- the proposal for continuous footways
- and demarcation of the contraflow cycle track
2. That the recommendations made by highways officers based on the consultation report in Appendix 1 be considered, and further details in Appendix 2.
3. That officers be instructed to proceed with the detailed design stage and approve the implementation of the street improvements by preparing an order revising the existing traffic management order (TMO) pursuant to sections 6 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“1984 Act”) and the Local Authorities Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) regulations 1996 (“1996 Regulations”) following the outcome of the statutory consultation.
4. That it be noted that officers will present a further report to the Cabinet Member should the council receive any objections (that are not subsequently withdrawn) during statutory consultation.
5. That the Equality Impact and Needs Analysis (“EINA”) prepared for the purposes of this report (Appendix 4) be considered in accordance with the council’s Public Sector Equality Duty (“PSED”).
