Extend grants to Alzheimer Society

1.  That an extension for one year of a grant to the Alzheimer’s Society for the sum of £164,000, in order to continue to provide post-diagnostic support to people living with dementia and the continued development of a Dementia Action Alliance (as part of the wider Council commitment to an Age Friendly Borough) be agreed.

2.  That it be noted that this proposed decision is recommended by officers of the Council and the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) following a review of the Better Care Fund programme in November 2017, to continue funding in this area for 2018-19.

3.  That it also be noted that this grant extension will provide time for the Council and the CCG to consider fully whether these services could be aligned to the proposed Older People’s Hub, or retained as a distinct service.
