Attendance at formal meetings

Members are generally required to attend one formal meeting in a six-month period to remain a councillor. All members sit on their respective community council and some sit on a number of other committees. In addition most members attend many informal meetings with community groups and outside bodies and all of these have to be managed whilst dealing with job, home and family commitments. The number of meetings attended will therefore vary and the percentage attendance should provide a comparative indicator.

If you or your partner are a shareholder of a company or similar body, which occupies premises in the council’s area you should give details of such body or other body. The notional value of a holding is normally the face value of the share certificates and is not the market value. If there are several classes of shares or securities, the fraction of 1/100th applies to any of those classes. These limits also apply to deposits with industrial and provident societies and co-operative societies. If in any doubt please contact your financial adviser. If the nominal value is less than £25,000 or 1 per cent of the total share capital, there is no need to complete this section.
