Only a few decades have passed since East Dulwich residents enjoyed the sights and sounds of grazing sheep on Goose Green.
Bringing them back now would give a much-needed boost to moral during these dark times. Sheep milk could be used to produce local cheese to be sold at the Cheese Block and Mons Cheesemongers. Local dog owners could train their puppies in sheepdog skills and the scheme would create a much-needed job for a local shepherd.
The initial costs would be largely offset by savings in grass
cutting, which along with cheese and wool sales, advertising on
fleeces would make the scheme self-funding and in the long term,
revenue generating. Local insomniacs could also count the sheep at
night so providing an additional health benefit.
