Covered Cycle Parking on Great Suffolk St, Borough High St side
Due to LFB (London Fire Brigade) safety policy enforcement, we - the residents of 202 Great Suffolk Street, have been asked to remove part or all of our bicycles from the common area within the building (in an unused zone under the stairs). According to LFB, the bicycles are not blocking any fire exit but they might become a safety hazard should they get caught in a fire.
Without the possibility to park our bicycles safely inside, the
residents would have to park them either in their respective flat
or outside, unprotected of the weather and thieves.
Unfortunately the former option is an issue as the building does
not provide a balcony and our flats feature little to no space to
accommodate regular size bicycles. The latter option cannot be
considered for obvious reasons.
The LFB working closely with the council, the residents would expect a contingency plan to accommodate the new constraint which is preventing us to park our bicycles within our premises: a covered bicycle parking outside the building for the exclusive usage of local residents.
Furthermore, until such a plan is executed, we'd like the LFB to consider postponing their enforcement and let the bicycles reside within our premises as it has been for the last 12+ years since inception of the building.
We thank you for your consideration and hope you'll help us on
the matter.
On reaching 500 signatures The issue will be discussed at a Cabinet meeting
