Street permit parking Zone D - Garland close, Harper road and Falmouth road

We the undersigned petition the council to Review the parking problems on Garland Close, Harper Road and Falmouth Road, SE1. We are unable to park our vehicles between 08:30 and 06:30 weekdays. There are a number of families that live in the area who have found it very difficult to go about their daily lives because of this. They cannot shop for food or attend to other matters because of the restricted hours. We cannot get to our homes and park our cars without incurring a parking fine or ticket. Also we are unable to park our cars far away from our home because it would mean walking a long distance to our homes. The majority of us do not want to have Estate parking permits or free parking. Of course we want to pay for parking but what we require is permit parking in Zone D in Southwark. Southwark Parking Services advised that some properties in controlled parking zones were built in the last ten years and as part of that were car free developments, because of this, residents do not have the right to apply for parking permits.

Zone D is a large area and there is plenty of available parking space. We cannot park outside the apartment until 06:30 due to the single yellow lines. And we do not want to park there in the middle of the day.

Falmouth Road has major parking problems and within Zone D there is available parking which is not accessible to residents.

As a school run driver, I regularly drop schoolchildren off at 8:30 and observe the problems of parking in the area.

It has been impossible for me to park my car near my home for a long time. Usually I have to park my car in the mall for two hours for free which is a distance away from where I live. We are hoping for a positive outcome to this problem.

On reaching 250 signatures The issue will be debated at a relevant community council meeting
