High Speed Broadband in SE16

We the undersigned petition the council to ensure that internet coverage in all areas in SE16 is able to reach a minimum of 10Mb versus the current 2.5Mb (download speed).

Living in London in 2017 involves having a dependency in a number of technology services that are today an expectation. Same as public transport, a reasonable internet speed is one of them, I find hard to believe that in this day and age in the core of London, the internet speed any provider can warranty in our area (SE16) is about 2.5 Mb.

As stated, there are many services that today depend on internet connection (business development, remote work, home security, domotics, communications, healthcare services, etc.) and I believe the poor quality of the infrastructure has been causing the neighbours in SE16 a no-end of problems.

Even though the council has committed to resolving this, the development seems to be on the hands of the internet providers, which seem (as per the plans exposed on their websites) to only have plans for improving this situation in the big blocks and new developments, which leaves the leftover areas with less density of "potential customers" - which also pay taxes to the council - with no options whatsoever.

I believe this is not just an inconvenience, but a social problem that requires the intervention of the council to be resolved, as internet providers moved by commercial reasons appear to not be interested in providing a solution.
