The Employment Academy
Chris Deacon of Thames Reach, explained that Thames Reach was an organisation working across London with the aim of ending street homelessness. A key part of the strategy for preventing homelessness was to provide employment support. A lot of Thames Reach employment support services were run out of 29 Peckham Road (tonight’s meeting venue). One of the services was the “Step-Up Programme.” This was for people in work who wanted to work more hours or who were currently underpaid / experiencing in-work poverty. This was an increasing problem as it could lead to people losing their accommodation through inability to pay rent. Contact: employmentacademy@thamesreach.org.uk
