Interview - Police Borough Commander and Cabinet Member for Community Safety Interview - Councillor M Situ

The Sub-Committee to interview the Borough Commander regarding crime in the Borough.

 

The Cabinet Member for Communities and Safety has particular responsibility for:

 

  • relationships with the voluntary and community sector;
  • community councils and community engagement;
  • relationships with faith communities;
  • Southwark diversity standard;
  • equalities and equal opportunities.
  • volunteering;
  • developing networks of community volunteer champions;
  • working to ensure Southwark has a strong voluntary and community sector.
  • crime & drugs strategy and alcohol control zones;
  • licensing policy;
  • lobbying to increase Southwark’s police;
  • environmental health;
  • trading standards;
  • Southwark anti-social behaviour unit;
  • domestic violence strategy;
  • women’s safety charter;
  • the community warden service;
  • noise nuisance;
  • CCTV and other safety measures in public places;

 

Minutes:

5.1  The chair with the agreement of the sub-committee interviewed the Borough Commander Zander Gibson and the Cabinet Member for Community Safety Councillor Michael Situ together. He then explained that members would ask questions of both for an hour, then have a 10 minute break and resume the questions for the final hour.

 

5.2  At the end of the questions the chair thanked the Borough Commander and the Cabinet Member for Community Safety for attending the meeting and answering members questions.
