Minutes:

Councillor Mark Williams, cabinet member for regeneration and new homes, introduced the item. He explained that the programme to build 11,000 council houses over 28 years was the largest council house building programme in the country. The first target was to build 1,500 homes by 2018. Residents were being asked for their ideas on where new council houses should be built.

Phase 1

-  Project management team and architects appointed in Spring 2013

-  All schemes on site and due to complete by Spring / Summer 2016

-  Willow Walk completed and occupied. 50% lettings to local people on neighbouring estate

 

Phase 2

-  Consultation on phase two sites due to start in summer 2015

 

Direct delivery in Camberwell

 

Southdown House and Gatebeck House, East Dulwich Estate, SE22

The two developments will provide a total of 27 properties comprising:

-  19 flats/maisonettes for council rent of which 14 are three bedroom and 3 are wheelchair adapted

-  8 flats for shared ownership

Due to complete in Spring 2016

 

Masterman House Garages, Elmington Estate, SE5

The development will provide a total of 25 properties comprising:

-  15 flats for council rent, including 4 three bedroom flats and 2 wheelchair adapted properties

-  10 flats for private sale

 

Brandon Baptist, SE5

Aims to deliver:

-  A mix of council, intermediate and private homes

-  A new building for the church

-  A modern residential care facility

-  Public consultation will be held in September 2015

 

Housing Association Schemes – Elmington Estate Regeneration

-  Sites A and B: Notting Hill Housing Association. 270 new homes / 63 social rent / 12 intermediate

-  Sites C,D,E and G: Bellway and Family Mosaic Housing Association. 226 new homes / 43 social rent / 14 affordable rent / 27 intermediate.


Following the presentation, the meeting moved to ward based workshops at which residents could highlight the areas they would like new homes built and ask questions related to the programme.
