Minutes:

GP Services in Southwark

Michelle Cleary, neighbourhood development manager of NHS Southwark clinical commissioning group (CCG), outlined briefly some changes to GP services in Southwark. Some residents had found difficulty in arranging appointments; and the services on offer confusing. The CCG had been working to simplify the services available. An extended primary care service meant that registered residents could now get appointments up until 8pm in the evening and over the weekends from two overflow clinics – Bermondsey Spa health centre and the Lister primary care centre.

Community Infrastructure Project List (CIPL)

Councillor Mark Williams explained the community infrastructure levy and how it was charged on developments in the borough. The project list would be an item at the next community council meeting in October 2015. Residents seeking to add projects to the CIPL should email the council at: jack.ricketts@southwark.gov.uk or contact their councillors.

Free Swim and Free Gym programme

Matt Goldsworthy, general manager at Camberwell Leisure Centre, explained that registration had opened for the Southwark free swim and gym sessions. Southwark residents aged 18 and under, plus over 60s could enjoy free swim and gym sessions in five of the borough’s leisure centres. Registration forms had been circulated and were available online and at leisure centres. Contact: www.southwark.gov.uk/getactive

Burgess Park southern entrance project

The chair highlighted the designs for the new south entrance which were on display in the hall. He added that the consultation period had closed, but that officers were still open to hearing the views of residents on the project. Contact: parks@southwark.gov.uk or Tel. 020 7525 5133

Cycling Quietways consultation on Champion Hill / Grove Hill

The chair read out the following statement received from Sustrans:

Sustrans would like to announce that Quietways, part of the Mayors cycling vision for London, would run through the borough and Quietway 7 would pass through South Camberwell along Camberwell Grove, Champion Hill and Green Dale.  There would be a process of community engagement to work with residents to develop quieter streets along specific sections of the route. Contact: Hannah.Padgett@sustrans.org.uk or Tel. 0207 780 7233

Camberwell Fair

The event would take place on Saturday 25 July at Camberwell Green. It would be a free celebration of Camberwell’s music, people and culture. Contact: camberwellfair.co.uk

Southwark Youth Service

Daniel Chery, Senior Youth Development Worker, promoted the summer programme for 11-19 and up to 25 year olds with learning support needs. Various programmes would run from 20 July until the end of August 2015. Several centres would be running activities. There would be swimming lessons, canoeing and trips to an outdoor facilities centre in Upminster. Further information available at: www.whtvr.org
