The Licensing Act 2003 - Consideration of local saturation policies dealing with the "cumulative impact" of licensed premises - Borough and Bankside, Camberwell and Peckham areas

Minutes:

Richard Parkins presented his report to the committee and members asked questions about the activites of the night time economy team and the  

 

Members discussed the report and agreed the following:

 

RESOLVED

 

1.  That the Borough & Bankside, Camberwell and Peckham special saturation policies be maintained.

 

2.  That Elephant & Castle, Old Kent Road corridor and Walworth Road / East Street remain under monitor.

 

3.  That the Elephant & castle area under monitor should be extended to the north-east to Newington Causeway to Borough Road.

 

4.  That future monitoring reports consider the time periods 0600 - 1759 and 1800 - 0559.

 

5.  That a further report is brought to the committee considering the new licensing provisions relating to management of the night-time economy following consideration of revised Home Office guidance.

 

6.  That an analysis is sought of the level of business success achieved by operators within the Borough and Bankside saturation area and elsewhere.

 

7.  That analysis be sought of the reasons behind increases in figures, particularly relating to ambulance pick-ups.

 

8.  The an analysis be made of the correlation between the reduction in alcohol related violent crime and savings within the NHS.

 

9.  That officers consider resourcing opportunities for establishing a NTE in Camberwell.

 

10.  That officers provide a further report on the activities and successes of the NTE in Borough and Bankside.
