Information about Peckham and Nunhead Community Council

Peckham and Nunhead Community Council is a two part meeting; made up of the community council forum meeting five times a year (details can be found here) and the executive decision making community council meeting twice a year (as below).

 

It is made up of members of the following electoral wards: Old Kent Road, Nunhead & Queens Road, Peckham, Peckham Rye and Rye Lane wards.


Role and functions

 

1.  To promote the involvement of local people in the democratic process and to bring decision making closer to local people.

 

2.  To take decisions about local matters.  At present community councils have delegated authority in the following key areas: the neighbourhoods fund, cleaner, greener, safer capital programmes, traffic management and community project banks.

 

The community council forum will:

 

1.  Act as a consultation mechanism on council wide policies and strategies.

 

2.  Be a focal point for discussion and consultation on matters that affects the area.
